LOW KIRKBRIDE FARM

About Our Farm

Joe and Zan Kirk welcome you to Low Kirkbride Farm, our working organic farm set amid the beautiful rolling countryside of Dumfries and Galloway.

We have farmed at Low Kirkbride for 51 years, during which time the farm has changed. The Beltie Byre, where we used to milk forty Holstein Friesian cows, has been converted into a lovely spacious self-catering unit. Before we moved to Low Kirkbride, cheese used to be produced on the farm. We converted this outbuilding into the Cheese House self-catering cottage.

The farm animals are very friendly and especially photogenic! Since 1995 we have farmed beef cattle, and our pedigree herd of Belted Galloways comprises approximately 23 cows and 50 young stock. We have approximately 30 ewes, with the flock consisting of Jacobs, Berrichon du Cher, Suffolks, Wensleydales and Greyfaces. Between March and June guests are welcome to feed the pet lambs. We also have three ponies which live in the field immediately below the main farmhouse and the stabling block. Our chickens and Khaki Campbell ducks enjoy the freedom of the farm.
